Ο Διεθνής Διαστημικός Σταθμός (ISS) είναι ο πρώτος διαστημικός σταθμός στην ιστορία, που δημιουργήθηκε από την αρχή από πολλές χώρες. Τα πρώτα στοιχεία του εκτοξεύτηκαν σε τροχιά και συνδέθηκαν μεταξύ τους στο διάστημα το 1998, και το πρώτο μόνιμο πλήρωμα εγκαταστάθηκε εκεί το 2000. Επί του παρόντος, ο ISS έχει 16 μονάδες και ο αριθμός στόχος είναι 17. Επί του παρόντος, η συνολική μάζα του σταθμού είναι περίπου 418 τόνοι και ο όγκος του ωφέλιμου χώρου είναι 837 m3.
